Favorite Newborn Poses for PhotosLakewood Ranch, Florida Newborn PhotographerMy style of newborn photography is not full of stiff or uncomfortable poses. I love to capture your family loving on your baby as you naturally would. My favorites are the ones that showcase your family as you begin your new season of life with the newest addition to your family. My photos may sometimes look very candid and/or very natural. You may not feel natural in front of a lens; however, I give you gentle guidance that bring out natural reactions and connection. While guiding you in the natural light and showing those gorgeous connections, the results are all you and your family. To show you what I mean, here are some of my favorite poses with newborns so you can see what a session looks like with me. Let’s get the family together Whether this is your first or your fourth, we’ll get in some family snuggle time. We’ll usually take these in the master bedroom on the bed so there is plenty of room to spread out and include your fur baby or siblings. As you hold your baby, kiss him, study all their tiny details, and I’ll capture it. We can get a lot of different angles capturing all the different interactions and connections you are making with your baby. Time to lay baby on the bed This is one of the most natural poses. We just lay baby on the bed and let him naturally pose himself. He can begin swaddled, in a white onesie or with just a diaper on. I like to get the top of their head, toes, hands – all those tiny details. I’ll also get full-length shots as well. Seeing your tiny baby on your great big bed years down the road gives you a visual of just how tiny he was that we never can seem to remember as we get older. In the crib we go We’ll next step into your nursery and capture some sweet photos of your newborn in their crib. We can also take some photos of the family showcasing your nursery, especially if you created a particular theme or décor for the nursery. Just baby with each parent During the session, I love to capture photos of each parent loving on their baby. Seeing again how really tiny they were against your chest or in your arms will really be special as you look at these years from now and will be treasured forever. The actual flow of the session will depend totally on your baby and the rest of your family, if there are siblings. These are baby-led sessions, meaning we’ll go with however the baby is feeling at the time as well as mom, dad or the siblings. If everyone is ready to go at the beginning of the session, we’ll start with the entire family as little ones can get very tired quickly. If we get them first, they can then go play while I begin taking photos of just the baby and mom and dad. Again, we’ll go with the flow and capture everything we can. This allows a more relaxed and enjoyable session and you’ll have photos you will love and cherish forever.

A Relaxed Newborn Session in One RoomBelieve it or not, there are several choices of where to shoot your newborn photos in your home. You may think your home isn't large enough. Not true! All we need for a relaxed and stress-free newborn photo session is one window. Really! Take a look at these recent newborn images I recently took - all in the master bedroom! (Ok. I lied. We did go out in the foyer to take one photo because it had a round mirror - who doesn't love a reflection in a round mirror?) I'll also give you more reasons to enjoy an in-home newborn photo session. Having an in-home newborn photo session means everyone will feel comfortable. Guess what? When everyone is comfortable, they will be more relaxed. Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, you know how stressful it can be to pack up all the baby stuff you may need while away from your home for a couple of hours. Instead, when you have an in-home photo session with me, I come to you. There! I just took one stressful thing off your plate. :-) You will automatically feel more comfortable and naturally relaxed with everything you need for your baby right at your fingertips with no worries that you may have forgotten something if you would have had to leave your home for your session. Baby leads the in-home newborn photo session. I allow enough time for your baby's photo session. I never rush. If baby needs to stop to eat, we stop. Need to change a diaper? No problem. I like your baby to stay where they belong - in your arms. Swaddled, not swaddled, awake, asleep - doesn't matter. We'll capture natural, authentic emotions and show those genuine connections between you and your other children, if there are siblings. Here's the thing. It's important that you and your baby are comfortable and all their needs are met. With your in-home newborn photo session, you will have photos of your baby's first home. Doesn't matter if the home you are currently in is your forever home, the place you first bring your baby home will be special. Your baby, as they grow and see these photos, will be a wonderful way to show where you first became a family. Several years from now, it will bring you right back to where you were during those newborn days. Last, but not least, another benefit of having an in-home newborn session is the opportunity to include the grandparents. Your parents may already live in the area or they most likely will be coming to visit the new baby. Fantastic! Your parents are always welcome to join in for a few photos.
In summary, your home is the perfect place for your newborn photo session as you will be more relaxed, comfortable and is an absolute gorgeous way to capture your family authentically, naturally and connecting with each other. So, don't think your house is ever too big or too small. We can make it work. Any questions about my newborn photography? 3 Top Reasons Why Framing Your Portraits Is So ImportantMaternity | Newborn | Family Photography | Sarasota, FLI believe your portraits should have purpose and creating framed artwork does just that. Think about the future of your portraits. There are so many benefits of having framed portraits in your home. Here are my top three reasons for framing your artwork: By creating a physical memory of your portraits, you will have something you can pick up, pass down and/or give as a gift. In our current digital age, it is so important, more than ever, to get those images printed. Where will all those photos on your phone or computer go? If you are like most people, they’ll just stay there. Computers crash; phones die. Keep those memories alive in print. Framing will add value to those printed memories. With our professional labs using quality construction and durable materials, framed portraits are great for keeping your favorite images safe. Just having prints can be damaged more easily gone unprotected. By having your most beautiful, favorite portraits framed, you will be preserving your precious memories forever! Oh, how I wish my baby pictures, parents, grandparents photos would have been protected. Instead, several old photos are bent, torn or damaged in some way. Don’t let this happen to you and your future generations. Framed portraits gives that added protection. The best part of having framed portraits in your home – instant home décor! You will be adding a personal touch to any space. When we have our pre-session consultation, I will be able to see the style and colors of your décor, take photos of the walls where you would like to hang your portraits and create sample wall mock-ups to show you at your ordering appointment of how different frames and variations would look on your own walls. Whether you have a modern, neutral space or you are looking for something new and different, we’ll have a frame to fit your style.
Framing your portraits will truly be works of art for your home. Ready to book and create gorgeous artwork for your home? Get in touch today. Serving Sarasota and surrounding areas. 5 Reasons To Love an In-home Family Session in SarasotaNot all family sessions have to be outdoors, even though it's usually ideal because of our beautiful beaches, parks and other beautiful areas. However, since we are in Florida, it may be nice to stay out of the heat and relax in your own air-conditioned home for your family photos. Read on for the top five reasons to schedule yours in 2022. REASON #1 | Weather is something you won't have to worry about! Here in Florida, you never know when an afternoon shower might pop up, and forget about outdoor sessions during our rainy season. It's stressful for your photographer as well as you if you have to worry about whether your session has to be cancelled and rescheduled for another day. Especially, if you have had your makeup and hair done and everyone is all dressed up ready to go and as soon as you walk out the door, rain begins to fall. This could be very frustrating. Of course, you or photographers cannot control the weather, so what if that factor were removed? That's right! In-home family sessions happen whether it is raining or the sun is brightly shining. No need for rescheduling. REASON #2 | You can be barefoot! Being at home, there is no need for shoes! Your children will love that. No worries about having the perfect outfit only to find out the day of the shoot your children have either grown out of the shoes you wanted them to wear or their sneakers are all beat up. Or, when planning for their outfits, you would have the hassle of buying new shoes for your outdoor photo shoot. You don't have to worry about that with an in-home session. Bare feet look the best at your in-home family session. So, forget about going to the store to find the perfect shoes; let the feet be free! REASON #3 | In-home Family Sessions are Exclusive to You and Only You! If you wanted a unique space for your family session, you may have overlooked the obvious! Your own home is the perfect spot. This is where you live and connect with one another on a daily basis. This is your home where love abounds, where your children are growing up. Your decor is different from anyone else's and is special only to you and your family. That deserves to be recognized and remembered for years down the road. Your home is where you spend most of your time as a family. Why not showcase it in your family photos? REASON #4 | Your Home is Where Your Children are the Most Comfortable! If your children are toddlers, home is where they are the most comfortable and more apt to have fun and play in their own environment. Taking them to a new place outside may make them feel shy, nervous or possibly scared a little. These would not make for great photos. Even though, usually most younger children would warm up after about 10 -15 minutes, think how much better it would be if they were comfortable from the very start by being in their own home. REASON #5 | You Don't Have to Load up the Children and Travel to the Photoshoot This is the best part of all - you won't have to leave your home! Photos can happen rain or shine! No worries about if you should have them dressed before or after you arrive at the outdoor location. Or, they might drop a snack on their clothes and you definitely need snacks on your "road trip" to the photoshoot. Or, will Betsy fall asleep on the way? If so, will she be grumpy when you arrive and have to wake her up? Or, you think you will need to leave earlier to give her time to wake up. Or, you worry about having enough time to dress everyone when you arrive and don't forget about traffic because it will be near rush hour to make it in time for the golden hour before the sun sets completely...and on and on. With an in-home family session, you get dressed, get the children dressed and you are already at your destination without having to ever leave your home. No traffic worries, or naps in the car, or concern of arriving too late. It's a win-win for all. Are you ready to have your stress-free in-home family photo session? Newborn Family Session | Lakewood Ranch, FL Newborn PhotographerMaternity | Newborn | Family Photography | Lakewood Ranch, FLI had the privilege recently of photographing one of my neighbors in Lakewood Ranch who just added a third baby to their growing family. Baby Emma has two adoring older brothers. I think she's going to get spoiled. Baby Emma was so easy to photograph. The boys were very active and hard to keep still, but they were just being themselves and that's what I love to capture. Boys being boys and having fun. Some of my favorite photos I captured were when mom had to nurse Emma. While I was waiting for her in the family room to finish, I heard the boys in the nursery and it sounded like mom was reading to them while she was nursing. I quickly grabbed my camera and just stood in the doorway taking photos. These are the moments that are so natural. Not posed, not even directed to sit a certain way. I loved capturing these special moments with mom taking care of her baby while also connecting with her two boys. That's what it's all about and why I love my job so much! Thank you for letting me be a part of your family, even just for a little while. Can't wait to see the wall art! If you are ready to have a baby or know someone who is, contact me. I would love to capture your story and create your legacy.
