Fresh 48 Session | Sarasota Newborn PhotographerI am so happy that most Covid restrictions have been lifted and Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida (as well as other area hospitals) is now allowing more than one person in the hospital room. This means Fresh 48's are back, baby! I love capturing a new baby within the first 24-48 hours of birth. I was able to capture this handsome little man when he was only 14 hours old! Fresh 48 sessions are perfect for remembering that first day of a baby's arrival. It's such a fleeting moment that won't come back because, as you know, babies change so fast! This is the fourth baby (and last, so the mom says) for this family. I have had the privilege of photographing all four of her children, albeit not all for Fresh 48. Photographing their first baby started my photography business back in 2017 and have been loving it ever since. You'll probably see photos from their newborn session in a future blog post. Meet Baby Kayden! Enjoy some of my favorites. Wouldn't you love to have your very first photos of your new baby taken within the first 24 - 48 hours? I thought so. Let's chat and we can start telling your story and creating your legacy. Simply click on the button below.

This is for all you mamas-to-be out there ready to give birth during this quarantine time. I want to extend my support by sharing with you some tips on how you can take your own Fresh 48 photos since professional photographers aren't allowed at this time.
You can easily take these with your iPhone or other smartphone.
After the quarantine has been lifted and photographers can work again by it being safe to come into your home, I can take your newborn photos, even if baby is a little older. That's the beauty of lifestyle photography. You will have the first priority to get on my schedule. For now, rest, relax and cherish these last days of pregnancy. Please feel free to share this with any of your pregnant friends so they can have these tips as well. Take care, stay safe, stay strong.

Since I mainly photograph newborns, safety has always been my number one concern when handling babies. Now, with the outbreak of the Coronavirus COVID-19, safety is upfront and center right now. As your photographer, I just wanted to let you know the extra steps and precautions I will be taking when photographing you, your baby and/or family.
Until this outbreak has passed, I want to err on the side of caution and be extra vigilant in protecting you, my clients, as well as myself. May we all take the extra precautions as necessary and pray a vaccine will be developed sooner than later and the virus will be eradicated soon. Keep Calm and Wash Your Hands!

I do photography because I absolutely love to capture babies and families in the moment. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved taking photos. I always wanted to have photos to look back on, to remember what I was doing at the time, how I looked (which sometimes I may not want to remember what I looked like) LOL, where I traveled, etc. I especially love to take photos of my family. I love looking back and recreating the memories we made, what we looked like, what we were doing, where we were. Having photos of my own family is so very important to me. I think that's why I started making photography my profession, albeit later in life, but it's never too late to do what you love, right?
Now, I want to create memories frozen in time for other families. From maternity, Fresh 48, newborn to families. Priceless! I want to create and show the connection and emotion of what's happening at that time. So, when they look back through their album or enjoy viewing their wall art, they will be taken back to that moment in time and feel the same love, emotion, comfort and contentment. Or, they may feel sadness or grief because the photo includes parents that may have since passed, but they are so glad they had photos with them so they could remember and show future generations. I especially make sure that mom and dad are in the photos. It is so special to be in the photos with your children. Think how as they get older, how much they will love seeing you with them years from now - remembering the emotion, the laughter, the silliness, the comfort and, most importantly, the love you shared. This is why I do photography. Let's start creating those memories for you and your family.

Choosing the right time of day.
I will always ask if there is a specific time of day that will work best for your children. I don't want to shoot during their usual nap time. Otherwise, no one will be happy, am I right? I Don't Say "No." Meaning, children hear that word often enough. So, if they hear it from me, they very well may have a meltdown. If the children won't take direction from me, I will ask you, the parents, to redirect your child's attention instead of telling the child or children, "no." Usually, a small distraction is enough to get the children happy and willing to work with me. I Let Them Have Fun! Children love to explore, learn and observe. It's fine if they are running around while I am taking pictures of maybe just mom and another child. Sometimes, I'll quickly turn my camera to get a shot of them happily playing and get great candid shots. They are in their element and that's what lifestyle photography is all about. I'm Not Afraid to Play and Act Goofy Sometimes I might have to dance or make funny noises in order to get the children to loosen up, play and get those genuine smiles. As you well know, children laugh at the craziest things. ...and sometimes your children are just not having it. They get in those moods and there is no turning them around. Therefore, we may just have to reschedule the session. This usually happens if we are shooting on location somewhere. That's why I prefer to have all my sessions take place in the comfort of your own home - where children are familiar with their environment and surroundings. Displaying your photography art portraiture is unique because it is your family - it is custom and personal only to you. It's a beautiful way to showcase your visual history.
But, you may have no idea on how to display this beautiful artwork on your own walls or tables. Your space could be limited and you don't want what everyone else has. To help you with this, here are five creative ways to display your art portraiture: 1. Hang it up in unexpected places - A beautiful framed artwork hanging on the center of a bookcase looks beautiful and interesting. A guest bathroom is a great unexpected place where guests will be sure to see a gorgeous portrait of your newborn and/or whole family. Transitional places, such as, hallways or office nooks are some other great unexpected places to display smaller pieces. 2. Overlap - display several pieces on shelves and overlap them giving them a trendy look 3. Mix framed with unframed - no longer are we the society that has to have everything matchy, matchy and all the same size to look good. It is perfectly fine to mix framed and unframed artwork in the same area of space. It creates depth and gives an interesting look. 4. Place on floating shelves - this allows ease in changing up the artwork every so often to give the room a new look often. You can mix up the sizes and display them however you want 5. Coffee table display - not the most creative, but it's definitely a space saving tool - think albums, glass image boxes, folio boxes Additional ideas: You could even have your favorite image made into a Christmas ornament or even coasters. Calendars might be another idea to give as an annual gift to the grandparents. Jewelry is a popular way to have your children with you at all times either on a necklace, bracelet or keychain. In the whole scheme of things, it really doesn't matter how or where you display your photos; it only matters that you do! Your family and friends and generations to come will love seeing these printed photos. They may never see them if they are stuck on your computer or kept on a flash drive never to see the light of day. DreamWorld Photography will assist you in planning your displays if you decide to order additional artwork, other than the album that is included in my all-inclusive pricing packages. I can create and show you wall mockups so you can get an idea of exactly how your photos will look on your walls. All you need to do is ask. I am at your service.

If you have been following me and read my last post, you will remember I took a hiatus because of one my granddaughters being diagnosed with cancer last June. Her chemo treatments have finished and she is well on her way to recovery. Thank the good Lord! Therefore, I am ready to get back into the swing of things with photographing beautiful mamas and their newborns. I am also in the process of adding something new to my photography business to cater to other newborn photographers, but could also be used by newborn moms for their own personal use. Look for that announcement later. Hopefully, it will be finalized in the first quarter of this year. So, right now I am in the process of catching up with posting my last session before I took the hiatus. Look for that posting next week. I wish everyone a healthy, prosperous and very Happy New Year! As this new year of 2019 begins, I just want to say how grateful I am for all the wonderful babies I had the privilege of photographing in 2018. The below images showcases my Top Nine on my Instagram.
I am truly blessed to have been able to photograph and capture these precious, fleeting moments of these babies in the first couple of weeks of their lives. My 2019 goals are to grow my business, increase my photography education (learning is always an ongoing process) and keep improving with every photo shoot I will have the privilege of photographing this year. What are your goals for 2019? What an amazing privilege I had photographing this new baby girl within 24 hours of birth. Babies change so fast. That's why I love capturing these images within the first 48 hours of birth.
