You will probably start to hear a ton of advice from those who have gone before you - your mother, your sister, your friends. Everyone loves to celebrate the anticipation of a new baby! But, you still may be asking yourself, "I'm pregnant, now what?" Here are my top five things to do each trimester (after informing your parents and loved ones first, of course) when you are pregnant.
I Just Found Out I'm Pregnant! Now, what?
T O D O E V E R Y T R I M E S T E R
1. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
This should be a given, but it is especially important when you are pregnant. You will need more water than the average person when you are pregnant. Why? Because drinking more water is needed to form amniotic fluid, produce extra blood, build new tissue, carry nutrients, enhance digestion and flush out wastes and toxins. How much water should you drink every day? According to the Institute of Medicine, pregnant women need to drink ten 8-ounce glasses of water per day.

2. SCHEDULE YOUR FIRST OB/GYN DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT
According to The American Pregnancy Association, you should schedule your first appointment within eight weeks of your last menstrual period. Regular appointments throughout your pregnancy ensures the health of you and your baby. In addition, prenatal care includes education on your pregnancy and childbirth.

3. DECIDE AND PLAN WHERE YOU WANT TO DELIVER YOUR BABY
While many women still have their babies in hospitals, there are those that want a more natural birth and will arrange to have their baby at a birthing center or even at home. Wherever you choose, it's important to discuss with your doctor the pros and cons as well as risks with your place of birth choice and what's the best option for you.

4. REGISTER FOR BABY SHOWER GIFTS
Now, we're getting into the fun stuff of having a baby - choosing a theme for your baby's nursery and then choosing gifts that will match that theme as well as registering for all the practical things a newborn baby will need. You can look here for a list of the "must haves" for taking care of a newborn.

I would love the opportunity to be your newborn photographer. Click on the button below to schedule a quick 15-minute chat to answer your questions, confirm availability and provide detailed information. As a mother to three adult children and Nana to eight beautiful grandchildren, I know just how wonderful, crazy and chaotic your life is with your wonderful children. But, I also know how FAST it slips away. What I wouldn't give for one more loose tooth, one more time of holding their hand while walking and especially one more moment of having my little children crawl into my arms and fall asleep. Capturing these moments, these looks, and this time before it's gone so you can look back at these beautiful memories is my WHY for being a photographer. You only have these babies and children for a short time, and I am here to bring this season to life so you can remember it in all its glorious detail forever! If that speaks to your heart as it does mine, click on the button below and let's start capturing your story and creating your legacy! When is The Best Time of Day to Photograph Newborns? | Sarasota Newborn PhotographerAre you thinking about when the best time of day to photograph your newborn is as you are planning for your session? The best time of day to schedule your in-home newborn session is 10 a.m.
Since I am a natural light photographer, I have found that around the 10 a.m. hour is perfect. The light is not harsh or overpowering. As the day gets later, the sun is too high to provide that beautiful light inside.
This also seems to be the time of day when baby is most likely to be happier - and, is late enough in the morning to allow mom and dad to get themselves, and any other children, ready for the session.
What if the baby had a rough night the day before the session?
No worries. I have no expectations that you or your family may not be ready at the time I arrive. The great thing of my coming to your home is you don't have rush to get out of your house perfectly ready. The session will be completely relaxed because I shoot lifestyle, which means I will capture images of your connection, emotions and real life, so my motto of "perfectly imperfect" will work just fine. I'll capture you snuggling up with your baby, maybe drinking your morning coffee in one hand and holding your baby in the other, soothing your baby or just plain interacting with one another while I capture those precious, fleeting moments.

Newborn Photo Session | Newborn Photographer | Bradenton, FloridaIt has been awhile since I have had the opportunity to photograph a newborn for the wonderful organization I volunteer my photography services to, Solve Homes, which is near and dear to my heart. Solve is a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides cost-free maternity housing and support for at-risk women during and after pregnancy. Last month, I had the pleasure of photographing a new mom and her baby boy. Yes! Mom should always be in some of the pictures. This little guy was 3 weeks new when I photographed him. What a handsome little man. Don't you think so, too?

Baby Number 3 Newborn Family Photos | Frederick, MarylandI love to have repeat families. It warms my heart when I hear another baby is on the way. I photographed their first baby at just a little over three weeks old and their second baby when she was just three days old. Since this was an out of state session, the timing didn't work until the baby was one month old. Which is okay. For lifestyle type of photography, you can take photos anytime. It's all about real, natural moments. This session was a little crazy at times because the two-year old girl just wasn't having it. But, that's okay, too. That's real life. We were still able to capture fantastic, memorable moments. Enjoy some of my favorites here. Baby Planning Timeline
Since I mainly photograph newborns, safety has always been my number one concern when handling babies. Now, with the outbreak of the Coronavirus COVID-19, safety is upfront and center right now. As your photographer, I just wanted to let you know the extra steps and precautions I will be taking when photographing you, your baby and/or family.
Until this outbreak has passed, I want to err on the side of caution and be extra vigilant in protecting you, my clients, as well as myself. May we all take the extra precautions as necessary and pray a vaccine will be developed sooner than later and the virus will be eradicated soon. Keep Calm and Wash Your Hands!

Lifestyle is truth. It is reality. It can be a mess sometimes. It can be beautiful sometimes.
Photography has changed so much over the past several years from having to be that perfectly posed, forced “fake” smiles to reality – real connection, raw emotion, natural and authentic smiles. Those “perfect” portraits were probably very stressful for you, especially if you had little ones trying to get them to sit still, smile when asked or keep their “Sunday Best” clothes clean and wrinkle-free before the photo session. In today’s world, more and more photographers are getting away from those “perfectly posed” photos to real life photos. Mostly, photographed in your own home – where you and your little ones are most comfortable. Those are moments you want to remember. What your house looked like at that time. How your nursery was set up. What your older children’s rooms looked like – messy or clean. Families want to remember what they were doing together as a family – playing, cooking, whatever. Why have another portrait of everyone standing stiff and smiling at the camera. Why not showcase your real life and invite others in to see your family, just the way you are. Everyday life. Those kind of photographs will capture real moments you had interacting with your family as you spent time together. Those kind of photographs will mean the most to you, your extended family and friends for years to come. That’s why I have begun to move away from very structured and posed photography to a more real portrayal of family reality. With just a little guidance and some prompts, I can capture your real and true lifestyle. You may think your home is too small or isn’t in showcase condition. Doesn’t matter. It’s your home. Your comfort zone. Your happy place. You don’t need to have everything necessarily in its place, such as, pillows perfectly straight, the bed “hotel” made. Your home is reality and there is beauty in reality – capturing your family as you honestly are. These lifestyle photoshoots are very relaxed. You can be in your jeans, a dress, barefoot – whatever makes you and your family comfortable. Laugh, play – feel completely at ease, and definitely no forced smiles. The day of the photoshoot may be capturing the good, the bad and the ugly. But, that’s okay. Those fleeting moments were real - ones you won’t get back from that particular time in your life. Get away from that “picture perfect” Christmas card photo. Show your family and friends you are human – showing the natural, the connection, the emotion – doing the things you love to do together. We are not perfect, so why should your photographs try to show you are? I used to think that way, too, but now I love showing reality in photographs, reminding everyone that life is beautiful, just the way it is.
