Favorite Newborn Poses for PhotosLakewood Ranch, Florida Newborn PhotographerMy style of newborn photography is not full of stiff or uncomfortable poses. I love to capture your family loving on your baby as you naturally would. My favorites are the ones that showcase your family as you begin your new season of life with the newest addition to your family. My photos may sometimes look very candid and/or very natural. You may not feel natural in front of a lens; however, I give you gentle guidance that bring out natural reactions and connection. While guiding you in the natural light and showing those gorgeous connections, the results are all you and your family. To show you what I mean, here are some of my favorite poses with newborns so you can see what a session looks like with me. Let’s get the family together Whether this is your first or your fourth, we’ll get in some family snuggle time. We’ll usually take these in the master bedroom on the bed so there is plenty of room to spread out and include your fur baby or siblings. As you hold your baby, kiss him, study all their tiny details, and I’ll capture it. We can get a lot of different angles capturing all the different interactions and connections you are making with your baby. Time to lay baby on the bed This is one of the most natural poses. We just lay baby on the bed and let him naturally pose himself. He can begin swaddled, in a white onesie or with just a diaper on. I like to get the top of their head, toes, hands – all those tiny details. I’ll also get full-length shots as well. Seeing your tiny baby on your great big bed years down the road gives you a visual of just how tiny he was that we never can seem to remember as we get older. In the crib we go We’ll next step into your nursery and capture some sweet photos of your newborn in their crib. We can also take some photos of the family showcasing your nursery, especially if you created a particular theme or décor for the nursery. Just baby with each parent During the session, I love to capture photos of each parent loving on their baby. Seeing again how really tiny they were against your chest or in your arms will really be special as you look at these years from now and will be treasured forever. The actual flow of the session will depend totally on your baby and the rest of your family, if there are siblings. These are baby-led sessions, meaning we’ll go with however the baby is feeling at the time as well as mom, dad or the siblings. If everyone is ready to go at the beginning of the session, we’ll start with the entire family as little ones can get very tired quickly. If we get them first, they can then go play while I begin taking photos of just the baby and mom and dad. Again, we’ll go with the flow and capture everything we can. This allows a more relaxed and enjoyable session and you’ll have photos you will love and cherish forever.

A Relaxed Newborn Session in One RoomBelieve it or not, there are several choices of where to shoot your newborn photos in your home. You may think your home isn't large enough. Not true! All we need for a relaxed and stress-free newborn photo session is one window. Really! Take a look at these recent newborn images I recently took - all in the master bedroom! (Ok. I lied. We did go out in the foyer to take one photo because it had a round mirror - who doesn't love a reflection in a round mirror?) I'll also give you more reasons to enjoy an in-home newborn photo session. Having an in-home newborn photo session means everyone will feel comfortable. Guess what? When everyone is comfortable, they will be more relaxed. Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, you know how stressful it can be to pack up all the baby stuff you may need while away from your home for a couple of hours. Instead, when you have an in-home photo session with me, I come to you. There! I just took one stressful thing off your plate. :-) You will automatically feel more comfortable and naturally relaxed with everything you need for your baby right at your fingertips with no worries that you may have forgotten something if you would have had to leave your home for your session. Baby leads the in-home newborn photo session. I allow enough time for your baby's photo session. I never rush. If baby needs to stop to eat, we stop. Need to change a diaper? No problem. I like your baby to stay where they belong - in your arms. Swaddled, not swaddled, awake, asleep - doesn't matter. We'll capture natural, authentic emotions and show those genuine connections between you and your other children, if there are siblings. Here's the thing. It's important that you and your baby are comfortable and all their needs are met. With your in-home newborn photo session, you will have photos of your baby's first home. Doesn't matter if the home you are currently in is your forever home, the place you first bring your baby home will be special. Your baby, as they grow and see these photos, will be a wonderful way to show where you first became a family. Several years from now, it will bring you right back to where you were during those newborn days. Last, but not least, another benefit of having an in-home newborn session is the opportunity to include the grandparents. Your parents may already live in the area or they most likely will be coming to visit the new baby. Fantastic! Your parents are always welcome to join in for a few photos.
In summary, your home is the perfect place for your newborn photo session as you will be more relaxed, comfortable and is an absolute gorgeous way to capture your family authentically, naturally and connecting with each other. So, don't think your house is ever too big or too small. We can make it work. Any questions about my newborn photography? Two Things You Need for Your Lifestyle Newborn PhotoshootMaternity | Newborn | Family Photography | Sarasota, FL
Yes! You read that right. You really only need two things for your beautiful in-home newborn photo session with DreamWorld Photography.
| 1 |
Your Newborn.
Yep. You definitely need your newborn for your newborn photo session. :-) And, your family, just as you are, photographed beautifully.
| 2 |
A Window.
This window light could be in your bedroom, the nursery or the living room - wherever the best window light comes through, that is where I will mostly shoot your newborn. It really doesn't matter which room or multiple rooms have the best window light, as long as there is light coming in somewhere, you will have beautiful images of your newborn and family. This is another reason why I like to start the in-home sessions around 10 a.m. when there is the best light before the sun becomes too harsh later in the day. With my lifestyle newborn sessions, there won't be any props or fancy outfits. We won't do awkward poses; however, I will gently guide you into positions that showcases your family's love and connection with your newest member of the family. You will probably start to hear a ton of advice from those who have gone before you - your mother, your sister, your friends. Everyone loves to celebrate the anticipation of a new baby! But, you still may be asking yourself, "I'm pregnant, now what?" Here are my top five things to do each trimester (after informing your parents and loved ones first, of course) when you are pregnant.
I Just Found Out I'm Pregnant! Now, what?
T O D O E V E R Y T R I M E S T E R
1. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
This should be a given, but it is especially important when you are pregnant. You will need more water than the average person when you are pregnant. Why? Because drinking more water is needed to form amniotic fluid, produce extra blood, build new tissue, carry nutrients, enhance digestion and flush out wastes and toxins. How much water should you drink every day? According to the Institute of Medicine, pregnant women need to drink ten 8-ounce glasses of water per day.

2. SCHEDULE YOUR FIRST OB/GYN DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT
According to The American Pregnancy Association, you should schedule your first appointment within eight weeks of your last menstrual period. Regular appointments throughout your pregnancy ensures the health of you and your baby. In addition, prenatal care includes education on your pregnancy and childbirth.

3. DECIDE AND PLAN WHERE YOU WANT TO DELIVER YOUR BABY
While many women still have their babies in hospitals, there are those that want a more natural birth and will arrange to have their baby at a birthing center or even at home. Wherever you choose, it's important to discuss with your doctor the pros and cons as well as risks with your place of birth choice and what's the best option for you.

4. REGISTER FOR BABY SHOWER GIFTS
Now, we're getting into the fun stuff of having a baby - choosing a theme for your baby's nursery and then choosing gifts that will match that theme as well as registering for all the practical things a newborn baby will need. You can look here for a list of the "must haves" for taking care of a newborn.

You are excited now! You just had a baby. Now's the time to tell the world. You can do this verbally, through text, social media or send announcement cards with a gorgeous portrait of your baby taken by a professional photographer - me! Right? I hope so.
