For newborns, they should be fed within a half-hour of the session start time, bathed and only dressed in a loosely attached diaper and loose swaddle blanket so we don't have to disturb your sleeping baby by having to undress them. They are more at peace with a full belly and a clean body. Please try to keep your baby awake for one hour prior to the start of our session in order to have a very sleepy baby. This will save us time in the session from trying to get the baby to sleep.
We know babies don’t always cooperate when you want them to. That’s okay. I love my sessions to be fun and the least stressful as possible. I work slowly and follow baby's cues. If we need a break, we’ll take one. Play, take some candids (which sometimes can be the best pictures) and try again. Hopefully, by the end of the session, we would have created great moments that will last a lifetime.
Time of day
For the best possible natural lighting, I book sessions beginning at 11 a.m. I will usually arrive around 10:30 a.m. to allow time for setup.
Keep your house warm during our session. This will help keep your "in the buff" baby asleep. Setting your thermostat at 80 - 85 degrees should do the trick. It will be warm for us, but perfect for your baby.
As I need a quiet, calm and relaxed atmosphere, please do not have others (including animals) in the room at the time I am photographing your baby. It is better for your baby to wake up from hunger and be fed than from others talking too loudly. That's why it's imperative I work in a quiet, non-distracting atmosphere.
Cameras, including cell phone cameras, and/or recording devices are strictly forbidden during our session.
What to Expect
We will take approximately two - three hours for your session, so please plan accordingly. Expect messes and frequent feedings. Babies tend to eat more during a session, which is completely normal. I will bring several hats, blankets, wraps and other props for your newborn session. Several photos will be taken in their "birthday suit" along with the wraps, etc. However, please feel free to make available your own special outfit, toy or blanket, etc. that you would like to use in the session.
