Favorite Newborn Poses for PhotosLakewood Ranch, Florida Newborn PhotographerMy style of newborn photography is not full of stiff or uncomfortable poses. I love to capture your family loving on your baby as you naturally would. My favorites are the ones that showcase your family as you begin your new season of life with the newest addition to your family. My photos may sometimes look very candid and/or very natural. You may not feel natural in front of a lens; however, I give you gentle guidance that bring out natural reactions and connection. While guiding you in the natural light and showing those gorgeous connections, the results are all you and your family. To show you what I mean, here are some of my favorite poses with newborns so you can see what a session looks like with me. Let’s get the family together Whether this is your first or your fourth, we’ll get in some family snuggle time. We’ll usually take these in the master bedroom on the bed so there is plenty of room to spread out and include your fur baby or siblings. As you hold your baby, kiss him, study all their tiny details, and I’ll capture it. We can get a lot of different angles capturing all the different interactions and connections you are making with your baby. Time to lay baby on the bed This is one of the most natural poses. We just lay baby on the bed and let him naturally pose himself. He can begin swaddled, in a white onesie or with just a diaper on. I like to get the top of their head, toes, hands – all those tiny details. I’ll also get full-length shots as well. Seeing your tiny baby on your great big bed years down the road gives you a visual of just how tiny he was that we never can seem to remember as we get older. In the crib we go We’ll next step into your nursery and capture some sweet photos of your newborn in their crib. We can also take some photos of the family showcasing your nursery, especially if you created a particular theme or décor for the nursery. Just baby with each parent During the session, I love to capture photos of each parent loving on their baby. Seeing again how really tiny they were against your chest or in your arms will really be special as you look at these years from now and will be treasured forever. The actual flow of the session will depend totally on your baby and the rest of your family, if there are siblings. These are baby-led sessions, meaning we’ll go with however the baby is feeling at the time as well as mom, dad or the siblings. If everyone is ready to go at the beginning of the session, we’ll start with the entire family as little ones can get very tired quickly. If we get them first, they can then go play while I begin taking photos of just the baby and mom and dad. Again, we’ll go with the flow and capture everything we can. This allows a more relaxed and enjoyable session and you’ll have photos you will love and cherish forever.

A Relaxed Newborn Session in One RoomBelieve it or not, there are several choices of where to shoot your newborn photos in your home. You may think your home isn't large enough. Not true! All we need for a relaxed and stress-free newborn photo session is one window. Really! Take a look at these recent newborn images I recently took - all in the master bedroom! (Ok. I lied. We did go out in the foyer to take one photo because it had a round mirror - who doesn't love a reflection in a round mirror?) I'll also give you more reasons to enjoy an in-home newborn photo session. Having an in-home newborn photo session means everyone will feel comfortable. Guess what? When everyone is comfortable, they will be more relaxed. Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, you know how stressful it can be to pack up all the baby stuff you may need while away from your home for a couple of hours. Instead, when you have an in-home photo session with me, I come to you. There! I just took one stressful thing off your plate. :-) You will automatically feel more comfortable and naturally relaxed with everything you need for your baby right at your fingertips with no worries that you may have forgotten something if you would have had to leave your home for your session. Baby leads the in-home newborn photo session. I allow enough time for your baby's photo session. I never rush. If baby needs to stop to eat, we stop. Need to change a diaper? No problem. I like your baby to stay where they belong - in your arms. Swaddled, not swaddled, awake, asleep - doesn't matter. We'll capture natural, authentic emotions and show those genuine connections between you and your other children, if there are siblings. Here's the thing. It's important that you and your baby are comfortable and all their needs are met. With your in-home newborn photo session, you will have photos of your baby's first home. Doesn't matter if the home you are currently in is your forever home, the place you first bring your baby home will be special. Your baby, as they grow and see these photos, will be a wonderful way to show where you first became a family. Several years from now, it will bring you right back to where you were during those newborn days. Last, but not least, another benefit of having an in-home newborn session is the opportunity to include the grandparents. Your parents may already live in the area or they most likely will be coming to visit the new baby. Fantastic! Your parents are always welcome to join in for a few photos.
In summary, your home is the perfect place for your newborn photo session as you will be more relaxed, comfortable and is an absolute gorgeous way to capture your family authentically, naturally and connecting with each other. So, don't think your house is ever too big or too small. We can make it work. Any questions about my newborn photography? Fresh 48 Session | Sarasota Newborn PhotographerI am so happy that most Covid restrictions have been lifted and Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida (as well as other area hospitals) is now allowing more than one person in the hospital room. This means Fresh 48's are back, baby! I love capturing a new baby within the first 24-48 hours of birth. I was able to capture this handsome little man when he was only 14 hours old! Fresh 48 sessions are perfect for remembering that first day of a baby's arrival. It's such a fleeting moment that won't come back because, as you know, babies change so fast! This is the fourth baby (and last, so the mom says) for this family. I have had the privilege of photographing all four of her children, albeit not all for Fresh 48. Photographing their first baby started my photography business back in 2017 and have been loving it ever since. You'll probably see photos from their newborn session in a future blog post. Meet Baby Kayden! Enjoy some of my favorites. Wouldn't you love to have your very first photos of your new baby taken within the first 24 - 48 hours? I thought so. Let me break it down for you and explain the benefits for both. ![]() FLOAT FRAMES Float frames are pretty popular and named because of the subtle illusion of looking as if the photo is floating inside the frame. With the 1/8" space between the frame and the photo, this creates a floating effect for a visually "full of life" display for your walls. Benefits ~ Variety of colors to match your decorating style - black, white, gold or silver ~ Works well as a standalone, an impact piece or even as the center of a gallery collage ~ Comes ready to hang with a wire hanger ~ Perfect for a metal print ~ Modern design flare ![]()
FRAMED PRINTS
Classic and traditional, framed prints are a client favorite. Your framed photo will be a beautifully framed custom print. Benefits ~Several colors from which to choose to match your decorating style - cherry, black, gray, brown or bronze ~Double mat encased in glare resistant acrylic ~Creates a gorgeous display alone or combined with several framed prints in a wall grouping ~Comes ready to hang with a wire hanger ~Perfect for your fine art print ~Excellent choice for your simple, yet elegant classic wall art display

How Does the Process Work to Book Your Newborn Session?Bradenton | Lakewood Ranch | Sarasota, Florida Newborn PhotographerI'm sure there a lot of questions you may have as to how and when you should book your newborn session. I'll take your session fee at that time to reserve and book the date. We will then set up our pre-session consultation meeting prior to your giving birth to go over all the details, show you samples of artwork and go through my portrait guide for all pricing details. Once you have the baby, you will contact me so we can set a definite date for your newborn session. Please reach out to me so we may discuss your session in detail. What's Your Biggest Fear About Having Family Photos Taken?Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota Family PhotographerI bet it's you worrying about whether your children are going to cooperate or not during the photo session.
Don't let that stop you from having family photos taken. I have great tips on how we can prevent total meltdowns and still capture natural smiles and laughter. Here are a few of my tips: 1. Be sure you are relaxed yourself. If you feel stressed and frantic, chances are your children will feel the same way. Your being calm can help your children during the session. 2. Praise your children throughout the session. This is the absolute best thing that can help prevent any meltdowns. Praising your children leaves them wanting more and feeling happy. 3. Pack the snacks! For older babies and toddlers - think baby crackers, cheese, goldfish crackers, apples, gummies - anything that won't leave a mess and dirty their clothes. Let's chat more about how you can have a stress-free family photo session. 3 Effortless Steps to Have A Stress-free Newborn SessionBradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota Newborn PhotographerHere are my 3 effortless steps to have a stress-free newborn session: 1. It would be ideal to 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗘 bedcoverings using white or a solid neutral color – this will be less distracting when photographing your baby on the bed. 2. 𝗙𝗘𝗘𝗗 your baby about 15 minutes prior to the start of your session. Your baby will be happier and calmer. We, of course, will take any additional feeding breaks during the session and will capture those beautiful feeding moments. 3. All you have to do is 𝙍𝙀𝙇𝘼𝙓! Your baby will be in your arms most of the time - just where he or she belongs. So, just do what you naturally do – kissing and cuddling. Any questions? Click on the button below and let's chat! |
