What to Expect at Your Lifestyle Newborn Photo SessionI'm going to get to your questions in a sec, but first, I wanted to explain a little bit about exactly what lifestyle newborn photography is all about. Lifestyle photography generally takes place in-home where everyone is more relaxed and true connection is captured. In your home, I'll capture raw emotions, real connection and true to life portraits, such as, holding, cuddling, loving on your baby, nursing, rocking your baby. Lifestyle is all about capturing candid, real life. We'll get some shots of everyone looking at the camera, too; however, most of the images will be those real life moments and capturing true emotions. We most likely will be in the bedroom, the nursery and maybe the living room - wherever is comfortable for you and has the most fantastic natural light. These type of sessions are very low-stress. That's why I like to schedule newborn sessions anywhere from when your baby is two weeks to six weeks old. They are more aware at that age and will show more connection with you as well as any of their siblings. They don't have to be sleeping the entire time. I actually prefer they are awake. If your other children are running around like crazy, we'll capture it - because, that's what real life is and you will love looking back at those images remembering how funny, how crazy, how sentimental they were at that particular age. Also, with lifestyle in-home sessions, any of your fur babies can be included in the photos - whether on purpose or by accident. With in-home lifestyle sessions, there won't be any props, forced poses or forced "say cheese" smiles. The only backdrop involved will be your own home. These portraits will primarily be of you holding and interacting with your baby as you naturally would. Okay. Now, for the FAQ About Lifestyle Newborn Photo Sessions. How long will the session take? The beauty of lifestyle photography is it takes a shorter amount of time than the posed type of sessions. Where the posed type of sessions usually take two to three hours, lifestyle can be taken within 45 minutes to an hour. And, that's not even rushing things. Because, if you have to change the baby or nurse the baby, those can be part of the photos, too. We don't have to stop during those times, unless you want to. My house is small! Will it still be okay to take photos in my home? Yes! Your home doesn't have to be a mansion to take beautiful photos in your home. All I need is at least one good window to let in that beautiful natural light and we are good to go! What about cleaning my home? I just had a baby. Not to worry. No need to do a full cleaning of the entire house. I just ask that you declutter areas where we most likely will take photos, which is usually the bedroom (so, just remove clutter off of nightstands), etc. I'll probably do some of that if I see something distracting in the background when I'm taking the shot. Also, if you have a white or very light comforter for your bed, that would be great as white reflects the light beautifully. Do you offer printed products? Yes, I do! You will have the option to purchase additional digital images and/or printed products through your private online gallery directly with one of my favorite professional labs. Depending on the product(s) ordered, they usually ship within a week. Have somewhere else you would like to print? Once you have chosen your favorite images, you will be able to download them through your gallery and use the print lab you choose. However, I do not guarantee the quality of prints you may receive from a consumer lab. That's why I highly recommend you order your prints through my professional lab. When will I see my photos? About two to three weeks after the session, you'll be sent your private online proofing gallery. If you choose a session that includes an album or other art product, that could take up to four to six weeks for delivery. Are you expecting in the Bradenton, Sarasota area? Contact me now.
